Uh, Look What I Found…
I came across this a few minutes ago. I didn’t know that this “work” had already been done. I was looking for something that Ellen White had said when I found it. I may be pulling articles from this site for you from time to time.

Absent From The Body
by Joe Crews
This is a short study of this subject. I would say it’s more of a “mini” book.
I have in the past personally found Paul to be a little confusing. Some of the things he says seem to be at odds with each other. But understood in the right context….it makes sense.
From the book:
Clergy and laity alike have often stumbled over some of the writings of Paul the Apostle. Scattered among the letters which he addressed to the churches are a few verses that almost seem to contradict what he wrote in other epistles. At least they have been interpreted as contradictions. But did the great, spiritual, straight-thinking Paul write confusing things? Or is the contradiction only in the way readers have twisted his words?

Great Online Resource for Studying the Bible
Bible Study Tools
From the site:
The Strong’s Exhaustive Concordance is the most complete, easy-to-use, and understandable concordance for studying the original languages of the Bible. Combining the text of the King James Bible with the power of the Greek and Hebrew Lexicons, any student or pastor can gain a clear understanding of the Word to enrich their study.
Btw, you can also use this if you read the New American Standard Bible translation.

I actually used this to prove that when the Bible is talking about the ordinances in Colossians 2, it is talking about “Moses Law” and “not” the Ten Commandments (Moral Law)
How it’s done:
After you put in the verse you want, you check the box “strongs numbers”. Some parts of the verse will turn blue. If you click on the word(s) that you want (that are blue, of course), you will get a definition of what that particular word means. There may be several definitions expanding on the meaning. There will also be to the right, verses that contain that same word. You could do a very in depth study.
Colossians 2:14-16 KJV
14 Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross;

The one that would apply to the verse above would be definition number two. So, if someone tries to tell you that ordinances mean the 10 Commandments you can refer them to Strong’s Concordance.
Colossians 2:14-16 KJV (continuing)
15 And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it.
16 Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days:
Someone recently tried to convince me that the “sabbath days” (verse 16) refers not only to those attached to the feasts of the old testament (and the NT) but to the Sabbath day itself.
When “some” say this, you know they haven’t done an in depth study of it. Or, I should say much study at all.
To continue: the subject was ordinances.
So… then, in verse 16, still speaking on the subject of “ordinances” that is why it say’s “to let no man judge you according to these things”.
And…because it is vital that I tell the truth…in some versions, Sabbath is singular, “the Sabbath” and some plural, “Sabbath days”. But…the fact that the ordinances in verse 14 was speaking of Moses Law…we know what it is referring to…then, Sabbath day’s’ is correct.
Some may not know that the Sabbaths which were a type or, “ordinance” and were called “high holy days”. That’s why the reference to “an holyday”.
Further proof:
Colossians 2:
20 Wherefore if ye be dead with Christ from the rudiments of the world, why, as though living in the world, are ye subject to ordinances,
21 (Touch not; taste not; handle not; (in the 10 Commandments it does not say anything about touch not, taste not, handle not. These can only refer to Moses Laws)
Maybe when talking to others who don’t know some things in the Bible we should preface telling them with two questions:
“Do you consider yourself an honest person?” and “Are you willing to accept the truth and embrace it?”
If they are honestly seeking truth and not just wanting to defend their pet theories then I would tell them. Not that I would refuse to tell them but I think this would be a good way to go about it.
We don’t need to beat anyone over the head with it. If you were that other person…wouldn’t it be the most loving and kind thing to do…to tell them the truth? (Let us reason together) After all isn’t the truth in the Bible…the gold standard for all of us? And Jesus, the way…the truth…and the life?
I will be the first to admit that I don’t know the Bible perfectly. I know some things and there are still many things I don’t know. But what I do know…I would like to share. Hopefully it will be a blessing to you or someone you know.

2 Corinthians 11:14 KJV
14 And no marvel, for Satan himself is transformed into an “angel of light”.
Galatians 1:8 KJV
8 But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.

“The Truth About Angels”
by Ellen White
From the book:
To the Reader
This book deals with a subject of worldwide interest. In unprecedented numbers, television programs feature purported accounts of angel involvement in human affairs. Tabloid newspapers publish stories about numerous reported sightings of extraterrestrial visitors. Bookstores display shelf after shelf of volumes dealing with the supernatural, and sales are brisk. In every land people are asking questions such as, if angels actually exist, who are they? Are they the spirits of the dead? Are they friendly or hostile? Can they communicate with us?
