Fried to a Crisp?

What if a Solar Flare Hit the Earth?

From the article:

Recently, there’s been news of a humongous solar flare that narrowly missed the Earth in 2012. If it had been one week earlier, one of the largest solar storms in recorded history would have directly hit our world. Just a small reminder that we live near an enormous ball of nuclear fusion.

So, what would happen if an enormous flare actually did hit us?

When I lived at home we used to receive Popular Mechanics and Popular Science at our house thanks to my Grandfather. I loved both magazines. It was more or less a permanent fixture in our “library” for years. .  Amazing but true….our library also had a porcelain throne in it. Lol.
