History Lesson

 From Wikipedia: Nigger

This article is about the word and its history:

Nigger is a noun in the English language. The word originated as a neutral term referring to black people,[1] as a variation of the Spanish/Portuguese noun negro, a descendant of the Latin adjective niger (“color black”).[2] Often used disparagingly, by the mid-20th century, particularly in the United States, its usage had become unambiguously pejorative, a common ethnic slur usually directed at black people.

I wasn’t looking for this word when I came across it on Wikipedia.  I was actually looking for more information on Prof. Cornel West. He is mentioned in this article.

I always think it’s good to educate yourself on many different subjects. There is a lot in this article that I didn’t know. I’d bet you don’t either.

Just so you know…my intent is not to disparage or, anger anyone. This is purely informational.
