First lady responds to school meal critics

From the article:

First lady Michelle Obama is striking back at House Republicans who are trying to weaken healthier school meal standards, saying any effort to roll back the guidelines is “unacceptable.”

The president of the School Nutrition Association said Tuesday that the school officials invited to the White House weren’t representative of those who have concerns.

“Our request for flexibility under the new standards does not come from industry or politics, it comes from thousands of school cafeteria professionals who have shown how these overly prescriptive regulations are hindering their effort to get students to eat healthy school meals,” said SNA’s Leah Schmidt.

I think the food that the children throw away should be documented. If the children after months (years, now) of eating this way are still throwing away a considerable amount of food then restrictions need to be eased.

Seems Michele Obama is a bit of a bully like her husband. They make a good pair.

“Unacceptable”? Just who does Michelle Obama think she is? She is merely the “First Lady”…her only semi-official duty is that of Barak Obama’s hostess at White House functions. She was not elected to an office. She was not appointed to an office in the Executive Branch by the President and confirmed by the U.S. Senate. Despite having a bloated personal staff—paid by the long-suffering taxpayers—of 22, she has no authority and no legal right to declare modifications to federally-funded school lunches or anything else officially “unacceptable”. She is a legend in her own mind, a cartoon figure of ridicule for most of America for her high-handedness, sense of entitlement, and her endless, expensive vacations. She couldn’t get elected dog-catcher…oh,wait…she doesn’t have to catch the dog because she hired a full-time White House dog-minder and trainer at $102,000 per year on OUR dime. (He’s unelected too…)
